The First of Many

So here it is a new year...and time for a new start to the Disc Golf season...I have been working hard this new year making sure the Sharpshooters team is taken care of and going out and hitting the streets drumming up any kind of sponsorships i can get for the Oak Grove Ice Bowl...This is my first shot at being a tournament director and I have learned that my cell phone and driving all over the place are the best two weapons i have in my arsenal. I have talked to countless numbers of disc golf stores online and disc manufacturers and everything seems to be going great. 10 of the 18 holes are sold out and i have nine companies on board that are sending out plenty of merchandise to keep the players happy with some great gifts. I have learned that this is a constant battle. Some companies stand and talk to me for almost an hour just to turn around and say we don't have the money..of course i am not going to be a jerk and walk away pissed off, i just won't disgrace the game or hurt what the team and I have developed over the past couple of months. I am thankful to be able to be doing this and being part of the game...I can't believe that i have gotten built in this little town a full professional 18 hole course...thanks to good friends and support of my family and my wife i never gave up and will continue to try to promote the game the best I can and try to get more people in the area interested in the wonderful sport.
I want to thank HB Clark for helping me to understand what this game is all about...I know there are people out there who don't like him but he is a great promoter of the game, a great TD, and a great course designer...I never listen to others people opionions of people and i don't pass judgement...Thanks HB for everything you have done for this sport and thanks for kind of taking me under your wing....you truely are a mentor!
To everyone out there I would love to see you out at the new course in Oak Grove on the 14th for our Ice Bowl...even if you can't make it get in touch with me and feel free to donate...it's hard to remember that during the holidays most food banks are pretty much cleaned out and we need to help those in need.
