The Community of Disc Golfers and About All Things Disc Golf

I am new to the sport and was wondering if the is a annual trade show or gathering of disc golfers to get up to speed with all of the equipment, courses, etc.? I am in Nevada so something on the west coast would be great! Thanks, Tom

The best discs are the discs that fly best for you. Try different discs out and see how they fly for you.

I was wondering if Wham-o is still involved with disc golf? Also, wondering if Innova and Discraft are the main suppliers of disc? Who makes the best disc? Thanks, Tom

Something like what you describe is needed, I think. Other than at Worlds, and that is less likely when Pro and Am are separated, like in 2010, there really isn't anything like this. At the 2009 Discilanti Open, we offered Flymart-type tables, but with limited success. But the promotion time available was very limited.

Some of the major manufacturers promote the sport at national conferences of groups like the National Pars & Recreation Association.

Dear Emma and Joe- Thank you guys for your comments!!! I will take you up on the discussion board instead of the blogs. I am from the Carson Valley in Nevada (close to Lake Tahoe). Thanks again. Tom

Joe is right. There really isn't anything like that other that FlyMart. FlyMart happens during the World Championships week...usually the wednesday of the week. Many, many disc companies and sponsors and lots and lots of discs. It like the "un-sponsored" disc golfers candy factory (Check out Mark Ellis' post "The Joy Of Sponsorship). Other than that i really don't think there is much else. A good place to keep up to date with courses in your area (which i'm not sure where you are from...) is dgcoursereview.com
I can tell you that there are some flaws to the site with a few courses so the reviews give u the best idea if there is not pictures or anything like that. As far as new discs and equipment...this is a great site to get advice on what sort of equipment and discs you should be using.

Also, if you want more people to respond to your post you should post a discussion instead of a blog. Blogs are only present on the front page for as long as it takes for 2 more ppl to write a blog...then its gone unless someone goes to your page to read it. You will get a bigger response to a discussion.

Really isn't any. The annual World Championships (either Ams or Pros) has new discs unveiled, sponsors there, and a killer flymart to sell new (and collectable) stuff . Anyone can attend the flymart and can probably learn a lot. Different location every year.
