Wow it sure has been a long time since I posted. Yes, winter seems to have spared PDX this season. Yesterday the sun felt positively spring-like so I went over to Jack's house and to my surprise, he agreed to join us for a round at Rockwood and Vance. On 8 at Vance, I nicked a tree and my brand new roadrunner sailed serenely over the fence and disappeared into the pit.
'A gift to the gods', I foolishly thought. 'That's what you get for throwing a second drive.'
There was no way I was going to risk my health for a plastic disc, even if it was a champion.
I forgot that I was playing with Carl Thorne: this was a challenge to overcome. So as Jack calmly smoked a cigarette, I levered Carl down a slippery slope at the end of my belt. I almost got pulled over when he slipped climbing back up, but at least there was no fast driving to the clinic. Thank-you Carl, but as a local informed us, there a much easier path down into the quarry back in the corner behind tee pad eight. Oh, by-the-way; legend Jack Ekstrom has still got game!
