The Community of Disc Golfers and About All Things Disc Golf

I am a beginner and initially purchased a beginner's pack of disc which are a 165g driver, a 170g mid-range, and a putter.  Then I met a gentleman who sold me some others like a Buzz for $8 as well as a straight driver, a curver, and a over mid-range driver for $4 each.  Was this a good deal for a beginner?

Thank you all for the great advice.  I am practicing my putting and my first toss.  I have found that day by day, my distance is getting better.  I have found that this game is great also for a woman's figure.  It improves the figure.  ;-)

Remember to pass on your knowledge like Mr. Ellis does when you've got your game together. Keep paying it forward.

Sure.  The Buzzz is one of the best discs ever made and worth every penny at twice the price.  The others are more difficult to judge from the information given but probably you will buy plenty of discs over the years.  Some of them will be great.  Others not so much.

As a beginner it is good to try out lots of different discs (and throws and courses and conditions).  It sounds like you bought some used discs.  This is smart.  A used disc can fly as good as a new disc.  I am a Pro and every disc in my bag is used (mostly used by me but what does it matter?).  In fact it takes a while before any new disc proves itself and earns a spot in the bag.

Find the good players at your local course and watch what they do and boldly ask them for advice.  Most good players are happy to help and may consider it a compliment.
