I will just say that Iv'e had much more success with the Star plastic for distance thumbers, however my champ Valkryie is a great Midrange Thumber, so is a Champ ORC I Believe that the flexibility of the plastic helps. The reason the Epic is dropping like a stone is because you will need to "tune" it. http://aerobie.com/Products/Details/EpicTuningArticle.htm . when you throw the Epic and have it tuned right throw it high and far while aiming @ 2oclock of the basket and you should find success....Don't give up on it, because you can get some serious distance...Goodluck
Hey Cooper, The Best Thumber Distance Discs that I am aware of would be the Star Teebird, Star Firebird, Discraft Flick, and Aerobie Epic. To break it down further, the Star Teebird and Firebird are both very similar, I found that the Firebird on average goes a bit further and has more of a tendency to roll afterwards, however the Teebird will fly lower, more like a line drive baseball. The Epic is the ultimate for distance, with its unique flight pattern however it requires alot of practice, patience and tuning, and is only good for open shots. Its a fun disc to learn ad if thrown right with a strong arm could get you 350-400ft, I hear alot of people throwing out longer distances than that, I'm just tring to keep it realistic for most players. As for the Flick, I don't have as much experience with it, but I've heard alot of good things about it....
