When are we throwing some discs?
Do you still own that portable basket? would you be interested in heading out to johnson park sometime soon on a sunday and playing the course and carrying the basket around? ill carry the basket for half the holes.
fallasburg is getting cement tess on sat. july 25th, pretty dope. i also finally made my way over and played riverside with the new concrete tees and it makes driving much better.
hey we are going to be out of town this weekend, around the plymouth ann arbor area. we will be playing some dgc's out there though if you are around hit me up.
i played hammond hill last week and most of/if not all baskets were in the short position. a lot of the holes while in the short position finish right--looks like the short set up would compliment your leftiness very well.
so I am thinking that i am going to have to play as much disc golf as my job allows me to play. I hate to loose and i don't want to come up there and get killed. So i will hopefully be all over my game when i come up there. I hope you are prepared. This is no little thing, the big advantage that you have is your f*cking drive. Pisses me off that i can't get a 400 yet. But that is my ultimate goal for when i gert there. By the way i know you really don't like riverside but i love it and it is a must in my book for when i get there.
Whats up dude,
i am pretty jammed up for the rest of the week and most of next week with work obligations. i have a certification for opticianry test on sunday in east lansing, gotta go work on some new equipment in traverse city next wednesday and etc. I have most of memorial weekend off, but i may be hanging with the family. I am going with the wife and boy to picnic and play the newaygo course here in the next twenty minutes--will be windy.
no worries on the surge ill get it when i get it--i dont throw it so im not missing it.
i saw you posted about fremont. I totally recomend the course its long, tight, hilly and full of variety--there are a few open holes. there is a hole at fremont that shoots across a steep gulley or valley and isnt long but if you roll down the hill-you're screwed. Flip is a must, two rounds all day excursion material. I would easily recomend fremont's branstrom park over whitehall. whitehall is just tight, not very long through pines. i would not recomend going to muskegon or spring lake to play--not worth the time
so Mav i found a course we need to hit up in Mississippi when we are driving through (if this road trip goes down) there is one hole that is 500 plus feet and the whole thing is between two ponds. That leave a strait fairway that is maybe 45 feet wide. that whole is going to be the clutch hole on deciding who the winner is. well the whole thing looks bomb but that whole caught my eye. going disc golfing today after work. peace
mavrick,
i am no pro but i play pretty good golf. i try to get out and shoot three to four rounds a week. any time you want to get a round in give me a call 231-736-4434. Playing with better players will make you better. other ways to improve are to play lots of different courses. dont play the same course the same way all the time. i happen to play JC and old farm a lot right now because riverside and brewer are still wet/flooded. i have made up alternative holes and tees for both of the courses. i would also recommend playing fallasburg more than the local courses. tougher courses will make you better.
Putting practice and field work on drives and midrange shots will make you better.
This site is pretty sweet. i put a blog up about maybe getting a course section so that we can upload photos and coment about random courses that we have been to.
FYI The Melbourne Open Amateur Tournament is at Wickham Park this weekend, the 7th & 8th. If you don't enter, there won't be room on the course for you. F. Burton Park in Cocoa is your best bet. Here is PDGA's listing

Orlando has two parks with two courses in each. Bill Frederick park is great, but closes at 5pm. Barnett Park has the highest volume of players in Orlando, and closes at 8pm. There are Handicaps that tee-off at 10:30 on Sunday. There is a Pro Shop at Barnett.
If Daytona is in your range, Tuscawilla is the main course, Reed Canal is nearby, but I would hit Tuscawilla first.
Hope you have some good weather when you come down. Look for locals on the Florida disc golf club. Someone will probably come out and meet up with you and show you the course. Greetings from FL.
