It is going okay. We are working on sponsors. We are hoping to go to Charleston and the course this Friday if schedule permits. I was wondering if we could borrow come water coolers from you guys? I plan to bring mine. Just need 4 or 5 more...
Is it not easy to get sponsors if you do an unsanctioned tournament? We are doing sponsor a hole to develop cash flow.
15 and 16 were moved in a rash decision by the park dept and we are working toward a redesign away from the old man on the hill who shoots a pellet gun at golfers. More can be found in the discussion forums at www.upstatediscgolfclub.com
Glad to see you at Timmons the other day. I just hope that your round was better than mine. On the first 18 I was +5 by playing awful from #6 to 14. Then Bill and I played the front nine again and I was -3 there.
Have you heard about the hubbub at Timmons with the city planning to remove #15 and #16? There will be a city council meeting about it on February 25. I think that the city council is taking a complete wrong approach to the problem guy on the hill.
Nice photos you have. I think I did play with you during first round at Sayde or SC Flying Disc Champs at CC in Chapin.
Anyway, we are not far from each other. You know where Newberry is?
Ron Riddle Jr and I are planning to host a dg tourney for deaf disc golfers at Trophy Lakes. Would you be kind giving us Jonas Card's contact info or have him contact us? Will you please let me know? Many thanks!!
Hey amigo, I sent an email to a buddy who was in on the design at Boiling Springs and he did not (yet) have a map he could send me, but is still looking. Most holes are worth taking some time to look for the other teepad and throwing one from both. Also, earmark March 8th on your schedule because thats the grand opening of the already finished Hardeeville course-- I'll be down there for it, if not the Friday before to come play some of your locals.
They are in the process of installing concrete tee boxes at Boilings Springs. About half of the holes have them installed and many others have the frames waiting for the concrete to be poured. We found the tees for all of the holes, which is better than the last time I tried to play the entire course. The only place that we struggled to figure out where the tee was located was on #10. As you go up the 9th fairway you can see the 10th long tee. It seemed like the short tee was quite a ways past the long tee. The rest of them were fairly easy to find. They have taken down a tremendous amount of undergrowth and that is a huge improvement for the course. We also didn't find an easy way to cross the creek from #14 to #15. We crossed at some logs laying across the creek. There are very nice bridges across the creek between 3 and 4, at the bottom of 11 and from 15 to 16. There is water in the retention ponds again, so that is a hazard. My friend lost a disc on #18 in the retention pond. He threw a long anhyzer from the short tee and when it broke back to the basket the wind popped it up in the air and straightened it out. There is standing water the the end by #16 and swampy type water all the way to the other end. Once they finish the tee boxes and keep the undergrowth down this will be an excellent course.
