Craig, that's wonderful news, it will probably be 6 or 7 months before I can get back out that way. I sure would love to play a new course. Tell Doug hi for me, and keep your Motodom on!
I wish it had mystical fairways... although sometimes the trees do seem alive, reaching out to grab a disc, or bat it toward a basket... yep, plain old real baskets
It's actually Pier Park in Portland, OR... a classic Portland park with the tall gorgeous trees... LOVE it! The girls came up from teh Willamette Valley to throw with Val her first day in Oregon this trip :)
Craig!
This is awesome news!!
I think we have much ammo to throw at the NO road thing! Nice fielding of the call, good to hook the FWP angle in there too. This will add to the illusion of the park being bigger and since this is the largest park in Bozeman we should be making it as large as possible... How much will the 3 subdivided chunks run... could we/city buy or offset the cost somehow? That would really make a huge difference to have the back part of the church parking lot butted up to a park where a couple more holes could go...!
Either way YAHOO in a big way. Lets get Walt, Ron, and us put together a letter of "NO". A petition might not be a good idea since it will be hard to get the support for something that does not exist :)
During lunch I got a call from the head of the nieghboring church , John Gardner. The topic was about a road going in on the West side of Rose. He was calling to ask if we would be against not having a road there. I told him that I was glad he called because, as i had heard it, we needed to call him to aask him not to put one in, if possible. So needless to say, the conversation with him went well.
However, he is getting some pressure from someone/entity in the city to install 25th street! He has had representatives go around and around from paying for half a road, to needing only half a road, to they have to pay for the whole thing.
I told him my take on the issue was whether or not he decided to use the land in a way that might end up requiring a road. But all they have as a plan is to sell off three acres on their northernmost point of land (the corner of Tchsake and 27th..and butting up against our rose park most northWest corner.)
He was very adamant that the rest of the church property was going to be used for parking,. and that they would allow rose park participants to use that parking (they only use it on wed and sunday) He also said that the church would foot the bill for putting in walking trails along the length of rose where we will touch. He was very PRO ROSE PARK.
He is just a bit baffled as to why he is getting pressured to put in a street, when almost all the constituents involved, from CODE to City Parks and Parks Finance dept heads are all for no road. He has a submission for subdivision at the end of this month to parcel off the 3 acres, and wondered if we would do a letter to the powers that be .. stating that the road is a bad idea and the open space with added parking and trails is a much better and good idea. I told John Gardner we would do a letter and maybe even forward rally this to a few others in the city.. to do the same., and hopefully get the powers that be to look at it in this new light.
I even mentioned our concerns about the erosion of the space propsed in the grant application to FWP LWCF. And explained that even FWP LWCF would probably be game to write a letter (Walt T.)
ive been doing the show thing during the waiting period for 20 years now.even at worlds i do my best to pull the freestylin golfers out of the crowd.good plan!
would i love a gig like that.ive been stylin since 72.gave up on it in 87 when it looked like the money would be in golf.also less and less people to play with.the old boy judging system certainly dissuaded a goodly number of promising talent.did we play during my visits to missoulla?if not next time my wifes sister lives there.
Good good, lets huddle for sure. I'm liking the board direction for HDGC as well, I would be inclined to be apart of the board for it's first year to help kick it down the field too... Good thinking! Do you think it would be wise to have an internal huddle then make the meeting with the City guys?
Have yet to use the DVd but it will be pulled out probably during the next snow storm. Right now we have been going over rules 101, putting and knowledge of discs. Of coarse Discraft is being studied. :o)
Looking forward to playing Zoo Town. CD should kick some ass. Will probably be gunning for 2nd.
Students are loving disc!! So fun to teach two classes. Good times.

Thanks for getting on that so quickly!
How about sometime this weekend we huddle on Rose?
I'm thinking I've already got a title for the episode that piece appears in. The show would be
Quasi-Moto
would it not?
Stay well.
