Larry, I had a GREAT time playing the St Louis Open. Fantastic courses. I was in a different pool than Jay the first day, not sure where he played. I started at Sioux Passage Saturday morning and it was cool, raining a little, and very windy (see videos). I had only been able to play the front 9 of the course and get a few throws in, then had to race over to Creve Ceour and only played 4 holes there before the tourney. It was pretty much hit or miss for me. I had played the other two courses several years ago, but they have changed quite a bit. Honestly, I don't know if my leg would have held up if my nephew hadn't caddied for me all weekend! Creve Ceour was f-l-a-t, and it's about 9,500 ft long. Shot par there, and that was my best round (I was -3, but missed a few putts ... that really sucked).
However, I had a fantastic time. It's a BIG, LONG tournament, and I'm glad I played. Got to spend a good deal of quality time with my nephew who just got out of the Army after 6 years ... boy, did he have some stories to tell! NOT the kind of info you get on CNN.
I'm going to help organize a good Pro Grandmaster field next year. Most of those guys have not heard of discgolfersr.us. I clued them in, and want to start a "Pro Grandmasters" club here now. We'll have a lot more pro grands next year!
Great time. Awesome golf!
See you at the CO Open!
Fire is under control now ... it was sketchy early this week. All roads to Carbondale were closed until about 8 PM on Tuesday. Could have been a lot worse had the wind kept blowing for another day or two. Cathy and I live IN Carbondale, so if our home goes ... the town is pretty much baked. We're OK.
CMC is playing GREAT! It's 98% dry. I played a round last night and shot a pretty good -5. Going out this morning for more. St Louis Open, and CO Open coming up, really fast! Looks like I'll see Peter Shive in St Louis, and then again back here in CO the next weekend.
Thanks Larry. I'm going to be working hard to get in shape for the St Louis Open May 3-4. Got my ticket to ride today, and have family chauffeuring me around town, so I'm there in a few weeks!
CMC Glenwood Springs course is not too hilly. Hole #2 and #3 require a little work, but we have some pretty nice steps in now, and if it's dry it will be very easy. Looking forward to seeing you out here! I'll be playing ... that will be the weekend after St Louis.
Larry, Yes, I saw SK8's message. I'm pretty extended with projects right now. Working on CO Open stamps for TJ, "trying" to develop a website for a disc golf related company, and I'm working a little overtime at my regular job at the Design Studio (I have at least 6 websites, and about 12 clients I'm servicing, LOL!) Hardest part is that I can't play DG to blow off some steam ... I have excessive steam buildup, HA! If I wasn't so dang busy, I would love to help SK8 and CDSA out.
Hey buddy..I just had to give you all some grief on the pics..it seems that every time I looked at my page you all had a new photo! I have not been in town to play unfortunately…and I really tweaked my elbow in the UK in December and I have really not been able to play…The Doc wants to do a cortisone shot next week sometime…so hopefully that will get me out to play!!
Wow ... go Packers page! Awesome.
Thanks for the note ... I'll be seeing you on the course ASAP!
The Holsten basket is awesome! Catches great, looks fantastic ... even better in person. I'll probably take it up to the CO Open just so everyone can get a throw at it ... and the mini basket is very, very cool. Cheers!
Thanks. Hopefully Brett will come back next year. This young team needs a leader like him. I met your wife last year at AM worlds. What a nice person! The town she lived in, in WI, is only about 1/2 hour from me. If you ever get back here to visit, let me know and we can go throw some discs! Take care and tell Sarah I said Hi! :)
