jason how's it going? you might remember me if you read the other post from me on this page. anyway how does the new course at the idgc stack up to the other 2 ? if you remember ,when you guys gave us the tour of the hippodrome i did not play because of shoulder pain . yesterday i got surgery on it. i hope in 5 months i can throw bombs like you. haha take care.
Jason i would like to thank you and Scott again for showing me and 4 friends the Hippodrome last Sunday. It was cold and windy and you guys went out of your way to help us. They all thought the course was awesome and although i did not play because of shoulder pain i thought it was great as well. I wish your courses were alot closer to where i live. You guys rock.
Jason, I am glad to hear that the baskets are going to be used. The original intention of the donation of 18 baskets to the IDGC was to install a permanent mini course that I would design and install. But as you know that has not happened as of yet. Maybe due to me not pushing the issue.
I am excited for you to be able to set up a mini course at the IDGC. As far as our course design regulations, as you thought, holes have gotten longer due to the level of skill the Mini players are at now a days. We try to make them challenging, yet the main rule is that it is FUN.
My course, (Beaver Creek Mini Disc Golf) has morphed from a short course to an 18 hole, 5056 foot, par 70 course with some very hard shot. Definetly designed for the Pro mini player. If you are designing a course for the average Disc Golfer, younger people, or older people, you may want to use the landscape and keep the holes shorter. It is always FUN to play a shoter but challenging course. If Dave Feldberg is playing, he would appreciate a longer more difficult coure. (by the way, he's an MDGF member from the beginning) Remember that we have a "no run up, no step up rule for our sanction events.
Also it is nice to have an 80-100 foot ace hole among the way. Also remember that the MDGF says that a disc that lands on top of the basket is good and completes the hole. All and all the idea is to have FUN with it. (we should take this to the Mini Disc Golf Federation Fan Club. If you want to start a discussion, I will follow. Donnie MDGF#.00001
Hi Jason, Just thought I would let you know if you do not know already that myself and a fellow MDGF member donated 18 mini baskets to be installed at the IDGC when we were at the 2006 worlds. They are at the IDGC, or should be. If not, get in touch with the center to find out where they are. There are 9 of my stainless steel baskets and 9 yellow baskets. I hope that you will use these baskets since that was the intention for our donation to the center. Let me know what comes of it and be sure to send me pictures.
it was nice to meet you today o yeah when i forgot my roc on 11 didnt realize it till i got back to 14 that somehow it broke so ended up buying the super roc and i like it already
Looks like we shot nearly identical rounds at the Savannah Open. I was looking good after the first two rounds (tied for 2nd in adv.) and blew up the last round. Sorry the conditions were so sloppy!
Jason, I see that you joined the Sustainability group. You're in a unique position to be able to study the affects of disc golf to the environment on an international stage. It might be interesting to start a photo study of impacts of the courses at the IDGC over time. I wish I had thought of it 10 years ago when my local course went in. I've seen dramatic changes over the years, but I don't have anything to compare the present state to the initial conditions. What do you think?
