Cool, you gotta stop by Emerald Isle. The throwing over the water part is fun, but gets one nervous. Also, that 700 ft. hole is neat. Got a 160g Viking, a 175g Viking, and a 175g Wraith, so far they seem to be working out for me. The Wraith into the wind works pretty good. Yeah, got some Solamons, keeps my feet dry. The shoes I had before were getting soaked easily. So when are you going to be back down here?
Cool, did you hit up any courses down in San Diego? My wife and family left it up to me to get what I wanted, since they knew nothing about DG. So I got a pair of shoes, a hat, and some discs. Oh yeah, and to top off the DG fever, I got a license plate frame LOL! Can't wait to play again.
Sorry, I missed your call this am, don't know what went wrong with the phone. Anyway, whats up? I know I missed the awards banquet yesteday. Just too busy trying to get a thousand things done before I go an a trip for CHIRSTmas to see David. All is well, hope to get together for golf soon.
Sounds like fun. I'll always include you in my travel plans if you want to go. Looking forward to the SoCal banquet. I hope you are there but understand if you need to study instead. I'm going to go to morley today in hopes of some doubles action. Stay strong with the studying buddy, you are almost there and it will be worth it in a few days.
Was supposed to go practice throwing this morning around 830am, but Jim had some stuff he had to do. So we are supposed to practice later. I just texted him to see what time. I'll probably play a round somewhere after that. Where are you playing today? I might be able to meet up with you.
I don't know where you will get the $$$ from, but you have 3 months to figure that out. Also, I was just giving you a reasonable table of what it would cost to do those events, extending you an invitation to join me on some of these fun trips, and to show you that it will be relatively affordable provided you have some money to spend. What events you do and don't play is your decision, not mine.
Either way, how's the school going? I know you haven't been fully hitting the books because I noticed you played in the weekly. Just tell me you're not going to do anything stupid...
(Side note about the weekly - the guy who won Open yesterday shooting 10 down was on team Oak Grove and lost to Roper 5 to 2. Roper pointed him on 4 of the first 7)
Hi Evan - I had a great time playing the round at HB with you and DJ. Thanks for the tips, and I'm looking forward to playing another round with you sometime. Jim and I have just been going to this empty area at El Dorado and practicing our driving for the last couple days.
Evan, how is the studying going son? How are things? Life is good here, i'm excited about my looming return to the game and am setting up travel plans for my return. I may be able to return for some Ice bowls and the Wintertime Open, but my main focus is returning for my 3 A-tier swing in 3 weeks. I just found a hotel for the final event, the St. Patrick's Classic, for just over $50 a night. If I can find a few baggers to join me, it will be cheaper than the Memorial.
Here's how the breakdown of how much it should cost to play each event, so you can decide if it is financially feasible for you to come with.
Gentlemen's Club: Event Fee $75, Gas $30, Lodging $0
Memorial: Event Fee $80, Gas $20 or less, Lodging $60 or less
St. Patrick's: Event Fee $75, Gas $35-50, Lodging $50-80
Obviously this isn't including money for souveniers and food, but you don't need to buy souveniers and you can get by on cheap food. Gentlemens Club I will be carpooling with Danny Z, and we will be staying at his timeshare so that will be free. At memorial, there are already 5 on the socal squad and that is without you, Ben or D-Unit, so gas and lodging will be cheap. If I find a bagger or two to carpool and crash with me at St. Patrick's, then gas and lodging is cheap there as well. I think all 3 are going to be affordable to play, and although I know money is tight for you, I think that you could afford to at least play Gentlemen's Club if nothing else, and you should be able to play Memorial or St. Patty's as well.
Hey Evan! Thanks for the invite. I stored your number in my cell phone. My buddy Jim and I are going to Huntington Beach DG course around 130pm or so today. It would be great if you could come. Otherwise I still would like to play a round at La Mirada sometime in the next few days. I'll give you a call. My cell is 562-599-9058
I wasn't feeling it the last couple days. Previous to that, I was shooting pretty good compared to my previous games. Hopefully I can get back into the Vibe soon. I like to use Champion Valkyrie's 175g for my long distance drives or rollers, DX Eagles 175g for my short accurate drives or approaches, and DX ROC 180g for my short and long distance putts. I never had any luck with putter discs for some reason; I tried out a few of them (ie. KC Pro Aviar, Aviar P&A, X Putt'r, and Rattler)
Cool, study hard. I'm speaking that you'll shoot a great game at your doubles. Let's hook up at La Mirada in a couple weeks after the smoke clears. I have been throwing everyday at either El Dorado, or a couple other mini 9 courses. Trying to get my game up, so I can keep up with you guys when we finally meet.
