Loose change...

The year was 2000 and the first ever Amateur-AND-Professional Disc Golf Championship was being held in the Ann Arbor area of Michigan. During such events, there are many various contests and prize giveaways for contestants and spectators alike, and this was no exception. One such event had a basket to giveaway and, for only $1 per shot, persons making an est. 90' putt would qualify for a later, final shoot out for the prize. At that time, Hudson Mills had added another 24 hole course (a.k.a., t… Continue

Lucky shot...

I believe that the year was 2000. I had been planning on visiting a friend of mine, John Mick, in the Kalamazoo area to then road trip up to the Brewer disc golf course in Grand Rapids for a summer tournament. This had been in the works for a while yet, come tournament weekend, I was having issues with one of my knees and would not be able to compete. But I made the trip nonetheless, and so the story begins... In Grand Rapids I spent the first round walking with the Am-1 group in which my frien… Continue

My first MDGO final...

In 1999 I traveled with two buddies, John and Guido, to Ludington, Michigan to play in my first ever Michigan Disc Golf Organization (MDGO) finals. We had driven up early, planning on playing in the "Mace Man" doubles event that (Friday) afternoon. First, however, I found Lake Michigan and relaxed for a while after a long drive.

Anyway, we arrived in time to warm up and pay $10 to play in the doubles event. If I had to guess, I'd say that there were 20-24 players (10-12 teams) in attend… Continue

We are having a Grand Opening Doubles tournament Saturday, April 5, 2008. BYO partner. Phil:

Miss you buddy! Hope you can get a chance to visit Florida sometime. Our course at the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park is really shapin' up sweet. It's a lot of work to cut everything out of dense, virgin woods, but unlike any other design experience out there.

My good friend Tim Berla is responsible for this jake photo. I'm sure he had to wait awhile for just the right wiener dog to pass by.

Hi Phil,
Sry I didn't reply to your message.
I think you wrote to me about a week ago
about my "Happy Disc Golf Day" image.
Thank you.
Actually, to answer your question, I used
a beautiful web photo that I found and
photoshopped it.
Of course if the owner contacts me, I will
give the photography credit to them. I can't remember where I found it at the moment. Some crazy stuff going on at my abode.
Have a wonderful day!
Cheryl,
WDGA~
