Discovering Disc

Discovering Disc

By: Bill Ashton

My fascination to disc began back in the year of my high school graduation. It was the summer of 1976. My friends and I would gather at Oak Park Mall in Austin, Minnesota late at night, and play Disc Golf under the parking lot lights. We designed a course that went completely around the mall using obstacles and such. Those were the da…

Bill- where exactly is Red Oak in relation to the cities(sorry- I'm new here and am VERY directionally impaired)? If it's somewhat close and I am free when you decide to get some of the work done that you spoke of on MFA borads, I would be more than happy to join and help give back to the sport! Thanks so much!

hey bill, my names alex, im 18 and live in north carolina, our city doesnt have a discgolf course and im trying to get one started, ive read your pros and cons and it couldnt be more true, my uncle got me started playing discgolf a long time ago and about a year ago we built a course in his backyard, 2 baskets but 18 tees, within about 3 months we already had a youthgroup come all the way from Ohio and play, which proves the "you build it, they will come" theory, anyways i was wondering if i could use your pros and cons to help get our course started.

Hey Bill, good to hear from you. We have not secured an official host hotel for the Masters Cup. There are some options along Ocean St. in SC. All are going to be pricey. There is a Red Roof in in Watsonville that may be a little more affordable. Let me know if you need more options.

Hiddy Ho Bill, Welcome and I hope you'll sign on as one of my friends and contribute to any of the groups I've started; THE DISCTIONARY, THE NOMINATION STATION and The 50, 100 or Really? Clubs are just a few. The Nomination Station is where you nominate friends (or yourself) for a randomly picked MAJOR AWARD. And don't forget to download and vote for the Peace Dude Flyer, making certain to post it at the courses, the disc golf stores, on all your friends front doors and 2 on your medicine cabinet mirror.

Check "my bag" from time to time to hear some fun music, read my goofy blogs, see some killer disc designs and other offerings by michiganartist and watch for great ideas that will change the world. Let's start with a little thing like peace for all and a disc golf course within walking distance for every human inhabitant worldwide. . . Now get your discs, get to the nearest course and godiscn ! Cheers from the michiganartist, lil charlie bishop, craig or you may in fact, call me god@godiscn.com, if you like.
